Jean Monnet Early Career Visiting Fellowships at Edinburgh Law School

Applications are invited for two one-week Jean Monnet Early Career Visiting Fellowships at Edinburgh Law School in the 2019-2020 academic year. The scheme is funded by the FUTURES Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence at the Europa Institute and by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

Scholarhip logosApplications are invited for two one-week Jean Monnet Early Career Visiting Fellowships at Edinburgh Law School in the 2019-2020 academic year. The scheme is funded by the FUTURES Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence at the Europa Institute and by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

The successful candidates will have the opportunity to engage with undergraduate and postgraduate students, doctoral researchers and Europa Institute colleagues over the duration of the Fellowship; to present their work at a research seminar; and to contribute a European Futures blogpost.

Candidates should be in the first three years after completion of their PhD or within three years of their first academic position. Applicants with expertise in any areas of EU law will be considered.

Accommodation, travel to/from Edinburgh and basic living expenses will be covered. Visiting Fellows are expected to be present at the Edinburgh Law School for five working days (typically, Monday-Friday). Fellowships will be awarded for the first semester (i.e. one week within the period from late September 2019 to early December 2019) and the second semester (i.e. one week within the period from late January to early March 2020). Visiting Fellows will have access to a working space in the School of Law and to the University of Edinburgh library system.

Each application must include:

  • A CV and supporting statement.
  • A research proposal (up to 1500 words) outlining the content of the work that will be presented during the Fellowship and detailing the topic of the contributed blogpost.
  • Contact details for an academic referee.
  • A preference for the first or second semester if applicable.
