The Netherlands holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union from January to June 2016. The country has also played a crucial role in the UK’s renegotiation of its EU membership. It has been the custom for several years that the ambassador of the country’s mission in London make a visit to Scotland during the course of the presidency. As part of this visit, Ambassador Smits will speak to the European Union Society.
