The Edinburgh Europa Research Group is pleased to invite you to its upcoming event:

The European Court of Justice in Comparative Perspective
In Place of Inter-State Retaliation

Dr William Phelan
Assistant Professor of Political Science
Trinity College Dublin

Wednesday 14 October 2015
5pm to 6.30pm

50 George Square
Room G.02

This presentation will draw from the author's recent book, In Place of Inter-State Retaliation: The European Union's Rejection of WTO-Style Trade Sanctions and Trade Remedies. It will explore how the EU's legal system, and in particular through the European Court of Justice, has evolved without the use of trade sanctions and remedies between the Member States - tools which are central components of other international trade systems, such as the WTO.
